Back in 2003 My associate and I somehow managed to convince Don to let us(Cindy & myself) offer insurance to all of his employees. My knees still start knocking when I think about meeting him for the first time. But, once you were friends. You felt it was an honor just to be near the guy. I still get a big ole belly laugh when I remember when a fired employee was required to report to his office the next day. You would here that booming voice calling them in. He would say,\\\"Why ain\\\'t you at work?\\\" The employee would then reply,\\\"Well Don, you fired me\\\". You would then here Don say,\\\"Hell, That was yesterday, now get your Ass to work.\\\" Miss you Don, may God Bless!!

For years you have displayed a sign on your front door \"CPC Explor. J.W.Bird lease This is my father James W. Bird WWII Veteran POW. We were always proud to see this on your building even though we have no idea how it got there. Doesn\'t matter. Just thought I would let you know he passed away March 12, 2008. My VTi coworkers and I eat regularly at your store. I say hi to pop by tapping the sign when I enter. Thanks

The Chicken is everything I expected Texas to be! My texas experience would not have been half of what it was if I had not got to experience this place myself! I will for sure come back if I ever get to Texas again in my life, thank you Dixie Chicken :)

My husband is class of '91. Love the Chicken. We have started a family tradition of our own. We have two boys, we take them to A & M every Memorial Day Wknd since our little one was 2 1/2. He is now almost 8. We always eat lunch @ the Chicken. They love to see the snake. See you soon.
